It was staged on Friday, May,6, 2011 and Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Dupree Hall, Irving Arts Center, Irving. The drama is based on the Palli-kobi (rural poet) Jasimuddin's epic verse 'Sojon Badiyar Ghat' featuring the tragic love story between Sojon, a Muslim youth, falling in love with his childhood friend, Duli, a Hindu girl., along with the nice portrayal of rural Bengal and her rich folk music as a whole. The seed of the independent Bangladesh was sown with the blood on the day of 21st February, 1952, the day of the historic language movement of Bangladesh. Since then it has become the symbol of the struggle for freedom, self-determination and identity of our people which eventually became the war of liberation in 1971. Reputed novelist Selina Hossain depicted this glory and spirit in her short story 'Slogan'. Anisuzzaman Manik adapted this story and directed 'Slogan', DBT's presentation for the Ekhusey program organized by ABAC during February 21, 2012.
